The “Nîmes Pont-du-Gard” TGV station, which is due to open in 2019, has been committed to an environmental approach from the start of its construction. The passenger building has been designed to reduce its energy needs to a minimum. A year and a half after it was commissioned, the station was equipped with a solar installation that shelters and provides shade for the vehicles parked in its long-term parking lot. Eco-designed and harmoniously integrated into its environment, the station has been awarded the “Sustainable Building Occitania” label.
Commissioned in April 2021, the installation consists of 4,230 modules covering an area of 8,000 m2.
Responding to a call for tenders from the Commission de Régulation de l’Energie (CRE), Réservoir Sun called on the supplier GCL with the local support of Synapsun to equip the parking spaces of the station with low-carbon photovoltaic modules.
According to Reservoir Sun’s estimates, this 1.4 MWp installation should produce 1,950 MWh annually. This production is equivalent on average to the annual electricity consumption of 700 French households. This installation largely covers the needs of the station producing four times more than its annual consumption.
The surplus is used to recharge electric vehicles (80 places are equipped with terminals) and is also re-injected into the national electricity grid to contribute to the improvement of the local energy mix.
“Born from the alliance between two major energy groups, ENGIE and Green Yellow, Reservoir Sun is a leading player in solar electric self-consumption for companies and communities.”
Réservoir Sun offers solutions for all types of projects: parking lot shades, roofs, agricultural sheds or even ground-based power plants.
